Gallagher is not only a star on the ice. To young patients at Canada Shriners Hospital; he’s become their personal star, having come to the Montreal-based hospital to meet and encourage them several times. “After taking a tour of this national hospital and meeting some patients and staff, I decided that more Canadians needed to know how wonderful this hospital is and what great work they do,” said Gallagher. Indeed the Habs star’s annual softball game seeks to raise both funding and awareness for Canada Shriners Hospital, a national pediatric hospital specializing in orthopedic and neuromuscular disorders such as scoliosis, brittle bone disease, club feet, hip dysplasia, leg length discrepancies and cerebral palsy.
