Follow Jeffrey to Quebec City for the first Spartan Race of the Season!
June 4th and 5th are the first Spartan Races of the 2016 season and our patient, Jeffrey, will be there with the Canada Shriners Hospital-Spartan Race team.
For the second year in a row, Shriners Hospital for Children - Canada is a Spartan Race charity partner. The obstacle course challenges participants to make it to the finish line, not necessarily to win. The idea is to help and encourage others during the race, so that everyone can get that coveted “Finisher” t-shirt and medal. Spartan Races have many of the same goals we at Canada Shriners Hospital have: showing compassion, helping others and trying our best to overcome obstacles both physical and psychological.
On June 5th, Jeffrey will be trying to complete his first ever SUPER Spartan Race: 13+ kilometers and numerous obstacles. Last year, Jeffrey, now 17 and in grade 11, proved that obstacles can be overcome finishing not one but four Spartan Races… with a prosthetic on his right foot and no right hand. He has a new goal this year: completing a “Trifecta” – running a 5 km, a 13 km and a 20 km Spartan Race.
Jeffrey says he’ll run races until his team raises $10,000 for the hospital! Help him achieve his Spartan Race challenge by donating to his campaign.
