The Project

Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Canada has embarked on its first-ever major fundraising campaign, the Exceptional Care for Exceptional Kids Campaign, with an objective of raising $130 million to help build the new Shriners Hospitals for Children in Montreal

A word about the new hospital from our National Co-Chairs

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada is part of a world-class health care system encompassing 22 hospitals in the U.S., Canada and Mexico that have improved the lives of more than 1 million children to date, by providing specialized care, conducting cutting-edge research and fostering outstanding teaching programs.

What makes this hospital so different? Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada treats kids from coast to coast, the U.S. and abroad. This seemingly small hospital is a centre of excellence in pediatric orthopaedics, is recognized internationally for the quality and quantity of its research and its treatments for bone disease, and children and their families are treated like nowhere else.

If Shriners Hospitals for Children are not as well known in philanthropic circles as they are in the medical community, it is simply that, to this day, they were self-sufficient. The Shriners fraternity has financed all their activities.

While spending time in the current hospital we were amazed by the warmth, the caring atmosphere and all the little extras provided to the children and their families. We learned that although based in Montreal, the hospital cares for patients from all Canadian provinces and also holds outreach clinics in several communities across the country. The Shriners fraternity continues to underwrite the transport costs of Canadian families who need to travel for care. We discovered where hope lives!

In planning the new Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada, the hospital leadership has focused on creating an outstanding healing environment, allowing to further enhance the expert staff’s capacity to care for, treat and cure even more children. This new hospital, with its advanced technologies, new services and ultramodern facilities, will allow us to continue to recruit the world’s best pediatric surgeons, orthopaedists, researchers and health care professionals. This means that this hospital will be able to continue to provide exceptional care to all exceptional kids for generations to come.

Our goal is to make this new hospital a true model of excellence. The new Shriners Hospitals for Children – Canada will be more than ever positioned as a leader in pediatric orthopaedic care in Canada and around the world.

We invite you to take the time to get to know why this hospital has truly amazed us and why this cause is truly deserving of your support.
